On the 11th of November at 11 o'clock the country stops silent for two minutes in honour of the men and women who sacrificed themselves in the World Wars and any other lesser conflicts from the twentieth century to present day.

The National commemoration will be held at Whitehall in Central London where the Queen, among other members of the royal family will be attending to partake in the two minutes silence and the last post.

Price Harry will be opening a Field of Remembrance within the grounds of Lydiard Park near Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire. Up to 35, 000 crosses will be planted there, each with a message to commemorate the 342 lives lost since 2001 in Afghanistan.

If you cannot get to these events on Sunday ceremonies are held at most local war memorials.

There are numerous battlefield tours available for anyone interested in paying further respect to those lost in battle. for more information see the full list of battlefield tours available.
